Bands & Breakfast

In 2015, Bands & Breakfast was born from a spontaneous idea by founder Mike and a request in a Facebook group for an affordable place to stay in Zurich. Together with his then-wife Steffi, he brought this idea to life. Initially intended as a one-time project, the two quickly realized how much they enjoyed organizing it, not least because of the overwhelmingly positive feedback from the band that stayed with them at the time. After some internal discussions, the perfect name was quickly found: Inspired by the concept of Bed & Breakfast, which had grown increasingly popular in recent years, they initially decided to focus exclusively on musicians and bands from the genres of rock, hard rock, metal, and gothic. Only after careful consideration did they eventually expand the concept to include artists from all other musical styles, from classical music to techno.

What is Bands & Breakfast

In 2016, the Bands & Breakfast Facebook page, which remains active to this day, was launched. Shortly after, a logo and an initial version of staff uniforms were introduced. While the quality was good and sufficient for the beginning, Mike soon aspired to achieve a higher level of professionalism and seriousness. This drive was further fueled by conversations with various people from the music and event industry, which led to additional features being incorporated into the project.

By 2019, not only was a binding contract for all involved parties established, but plans were also developed to expand and add value for musicians, bands, labels, and professionals in both direct and indirect fields. Naturally, the global fanbase was also a key consideration.

As the project grew, it became difficult to describe it in just a few words. However, from today's perspective, it can be summed up simply: If you were to design a theme park for the music and event industry, Bands & Breakfast would be the result – a one-of-a-kind experience for everyone involved.

What happens next

After Mike and Steffi's separation in 2019 and their divorce in 2020, Mike was not only forced to put the *Bands & Breakfast* project on hold but also due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. From then until April 2024, Mike worked full-time in the security industry. In April, he decided to revive the project.

In August of the same year, he began his studies in copywriting, focusing on the music, event, and related industries, as well as digital marketing and running his own online shop. He also officially registered the project and secured the trademark rights for the name and logo.

In its initial phase, the entire offering was tailored to these new areas, with the ambitious goal of establishing a treehouse recording studio and rehearsal space by 2025, in collaboration with the company Treehouse Point. If forecasts remain positive, he also plans to create an open-air venue that promoters from both domestic and international markets can rent at affordable rates, 365 days a year. Additional plans have already been drawn up and will be developed further based on the success and progress of the project.
